The D4D training solution

Each person with a disability is unique … and so is their diabetes. That’s why EdHealth’s Diabetes 4 Disability support is customised to match the needs of their NDIS participant.
EdHealth’s D4D course delivers the ultimate flexibility to match the diabetes support needs of people with a disability. Each group of support workers have their D4D course individualised to fit their client’s specific diabetes care. We want disability organisations to be confident their staff receive the essential knowledge and skills required to deliver safe diabetes care support to their client.
At the core of the D4D course is the delivery and evaluation of knowledge and practical skills for support workers to deliver person centred diabetes support. Disability organisations feel reassured with their staff do the D4D course because they know we have their back! assured participants will not pass their skills check unless they can do the skill. It comes back to being person focused … we want to see people with a disability being supported by workers trained to deliver diabetes support. its core to deliver the ultimate diabetes training and support solution for disability support organisations and NDIS participants.
Support workers are trained around the needs of the person with a disability. Everybody’s diabetes will be different, dependent on:
- type of diabetes
- lifestyle management
- medication options in place e.g. diabetes tablet/s, non-insulin injectables and insulin in all sorts of combinations
- glucose monitoring – meter and/or sensor (continuous glucose monitoring)
- insulin pump.
Support workers use, or support people with a disability to use diabetes equipment. There will be a knowledge and skills element to their training needs.
Diabetes Skills Training is available for:
- Blood glucose meter
- Continuous glucose monitoring system (Libre 2 or Dexcom G6)
- Semaglutide (Ozempic) or dulaglutide (Trulicity) devices
- Disposable insulin pen
- Novo Pen 4 or Novo Pen 6
- Omnipod
- Insulin pumps.
This makes the Diabetes 4 Disability course the most flexible and comprehensive in Australia because it is structured to address the way each person treats and monitors their glucose levels.
